Laila Does It Again by nymphont Laila Does It Again by nymphont
This picture takes part in an OC Fashion Contest hosted by #CoolGirls [link]

Inspired by the pop princess Britney Spears and the photographs from "Circus," her latest album (as of posting) Laila decided to play dress up again with her take on carnie-couture. Check the pink and "banana peel" haired pixie's custom solid-gold nymphont logo pendant.

And why not? She's been described as a train-wreck, but she prefers to think of it as a carefully orchestrated circus, of which she of course is the ringmaster. (Laila would like to add that she is against the use of animals in circus acts, for the record.)

All vector (100%) made in PhotoShop, using a ridiculous amount of shapes and gradients, consuming several hours of time. No blur, brush, PhotoShop styles, or raster what-so-ever.

Lauren, this is an exquisite piece of art! I love how the colors blend and the fact that no brushes and stuff were used, is amazing. I love it.

Thanks so much!! Some of the groups that I like to submit to require that no raster/PhotoShop styles and other tools be used, and works must be all vector, which is why in some of my pieces I refrain from using them. I wish I was learning how to use Adobe Illustrator rather than doing it the "bass-ackwards" way I do in PhotoShop, but I can attribute this rule to the improvement in my abilities with vectors. :D

Thank you so so much for your kind words ib this. It means a lot. <3

I completely understand doing everything "bass-ackwards" I tried learning AI a while ago and in the middle of it, was like screw it, I will stick with Photoshop. I really need to figure out how to properly use the channels & pen tool, those two have always been the hardest to figure out.

Your art is amazing, I love looking through your gallery, you have so much creativity and it's not just in one area, you do illustrations, fonts, web design. A complete triple threat to the design world.

Sweet, I am not alone then in my backwards PhotoShop ways! :D Yes, that blasted pen tool stops my AI practice in its tracks. But I do get the inkling that after grasping the basic fundamentals of the pen tool would make all the difference, and it wouldn't be near as daunting. Everyone seems to rave about it.

Thank you so much for your super nice words on my art. Really. I thought the same thing about your own gallery and art, so prolific and really nice. My computer is practically ancient and barely lurching on, it really puts a damper on browsing the web as I'd like. But I am most definitely going to take a peek again at your art, and maybe if I am lucky I can squeeze in some comments this time! (Slow computer be darned!)

BTW - noticed your avi on ColourLovers. I <3 that site. As soon as I log in again I will be happy to add you as well. Cheerio!

Yeah I had to create a new account because I couldn't figure out my old one with them. I love how they make it so easy to get a color palette going. Sometimes that's what kills my art.

Yeah, that Pen tool is evil, lol. I have looked at so many tutorials for it and nothing "clicks" in my mind about how to use it. I just look at it, and try playing around with it, and after a few tries I go back to doing it the hard way, lol. One day I will just force myself to sit down and use nothing but that tool until I figure it out (the same method I had to use on learning my Wacom tablet).

Well mine just went kaput because my daughter used the pen as a tea stirrer. That was a fun day, lol. So now I'm saving up my money to get the wacom Cintiq so that way i can kill two birds with one stone. :)

Maybe so, but at the same time, Laila is so supremely confident, that she is able to be utterly humble. Not a mean-spirited, competitive, or catty bone in her body. She can't help it that she's cute as a button to boot :P he he

:iconmoistplz: You would probably have the experience being in LV. Interestingly enough, I've had multiple opportunities every year (before having my son with me) to go to LV...my generic response was that I'm not interested in the gambling I'd go for the clubs.

Hey, what programs(s) are you using to make fonts ? And, if you want, I can help advertise them for you through my friends & other customization sites -which is what most of the people who change fonts a lot- would see them.

:peace: &

Lol! Wow, that is one dead sexy beast!

Ah yes... refraining from gambling would be a much wiser course of action. But as you guessed, the club thing has lost it's luster after residing here for now what seems like eons and eons. I've come to enjoy the occasional trip to the casino matter of fact. So long as it remains occasional :P

Currently I use FontCreator, but I have just recently acquired FontLab, so by the end of this year, start of next I shall have some even better fonts out. (I hope :)

Feel free to recommend my fonts by all means, that would be super and is super nice of you to inquire. But you should be forewarned, though I have had wonderful success with them and could claim some top notch commercial-font-licensing-clientele, in ome circles, they scoff at 'free fonts.'
