I'm not too fond of the extensive use of magenta or tribal-like desigs but the logo itself is gorgeous. I think with a white background the logo will come more alive though as you brilliantly used differed tones and colors at the bottom but as the background is about the same color, the logo kind of melts into the background a bit.
Oh no it looks tribal-like? Ew, I am not a fond of the tribal style either, that was not intended. I just wanted to make a pretty flourish or scroll ornament. I agree though, the wording is washed out among the similarly colored background. I guess I don't give my work enough credit, I don't think they'll hold up under the scrutiny alone. Thanks so much for the kind words though, I am encouraged that tribal-likeness, magenta and all, you found this attractive.
It's strange you would want to blend the logo into the background like that though. With the use of those light and shadow effects it's the kind of pop-art logo which can have high impact with little effects or textures. As for magenta, I think it's just too much with the magenta borders. If you present the logo on a 1% black background in magenta letters with a more fresh than yellow and old looking highlights I think you can pull the magenta off easily.
