oh thats really neat :D
i think some lines from aeroplanes in the background would have been cool, to give a bit more of an athmosphere. but i really dig the idea

Thanks so much :D that means a lot to me. Even though I think I am a type geek of sorts, that does not translate into an ability at making typographic illustrations myself. It is something I totally admire & hope to / need to get better at!

& I agree, the concept is cool but could be done much better, I think more details to the sky as you mentioned would definitely add needed atmosphere, and less horizontal wafting on the trails might look better as well. :D

:huggle: well, approaching typography by making your own type, even if its as abstract as letters from clouds, is something that works very well

That's neat, how did you do it?

Thanks, the idea came to me and so I had to do it.

This was super easy actually. The main thing, I created the word as vector shapes first. Each line of the letter was a vector, just long thin vector lines which were comprised of a gradient 50% white 50% transparent gradient.

Then I rasterized the vectors and manually applied some of the cloudy/smokey look to each one as well as applied a "smoke" effect to each one with the EyeCandy PhotoShop plug-in.

Pretty much sums it up!

Wow, it's wonderful! I haven't heard of that plugin for years, it was huge when I first started designing (that was over 10 years ago).

Thank you :D yeah... my version of PhotoShop is a bit... outdated.
(I'm trying to and keep that on the down-low tho J/K)

I am not sure if newer versions have an EyeCandy plug-in... maybe newer versions have the abilities of the plug-in built in & no longer need it. I dunno :p It does come in handy with my old version tho!

It's a plug-in for PhotoShop. It's a pretty small little add on that does some really cool raster affects, but it is only for older versions of PS to my knowledge.
